Poem: No Time for Tears

No Time for Tears There is no time for tears, Wipe them quickly, Someone may see them, And know how vulnerable you are! There is no time for tears, Smile and let the world, Think.....everything is fine...under control! Bathe yourself in the light of eternal glory, Like a quintessential hero! There is no time for tears, You being intelligent, Can keep fooling the world, All is well....all is well! There is no time for tears, What will the world do? With you? Knowing you are devastated! There is no time for tears, Show your pearl white teeth, After all you are a champion, And champions don’t break easily! There is no time for tears, Only time for deeds, And good deeds alone, To redeem us! There is no time for tears, Can you tell the world that.........?     There is no time for tears,     Just shock and disbelief, All those negative emotions, You know you can't handle? There is no time for tears, Resurrect again and again, Like the legendary phoenix bird, And quell all fears! S.Padm

Lessons learnt from mistakes made as a writer!

 1. Have something interesting to offer to the readers. Write on themes, which are likely to elicit a ready response from readers. 2. Writing too much is as bad as writing too little. This is especially true in today's world! 3. Add an element of surprise or fun in your writing. 4. Get inspired by other writers but develop your own style. 5. Write in simple language. 6. Be descriptive. Use plenty of imagery. 7. Don't write very long sentences. 8. Have a clear storyline. 9. Try to develop a great plot. 10. Edit with a lot of care.

Poem: J.Jayalalithaa

Poem J.Jayalalithaa Benign like a flower, Powerful like a hundred limbed river, This thousand faced bower. Lovely actress-dancer, A charming leader, Of oceans of betrayals and sufferings, A pain drinker. They say, She could have done better, To blame than to do, Always easier. Her life like the vicissitudes of life-river, Sometimes kind, sometimes cruel, Contained many lessons for ordinary mortals, As she rose to Goddess’ portals. Dr.S.Padmapriya

Poem on Gandhiji

*A Great Soul (A poem on Mahatma Gandhi)*   Great souls are not made In gyms or fashionable parlours but in  Foundries producing human castings;  the  Soul is melted in the heat of human sufferings And carefully wrought great souls are brought out.  He fought imperialism by resistance with truth Satyagraha. He had a child like heart and  Said that the education of a child begins with  Conception.  He shed tears at animal sacrifice Even in temples. He preached and practised ‘Ahimsa - non-violence’    ‘Brahmacharya – celibacy’ ‘Satyagraha – resistance with truth’ and ‘Aparigraha – non-possession’; Living  A righteous life and suffering. Winning  Goodwill.  Rendering service in a spirit of joy.   Great souls are not made In gyms or fashionable parlours but in  Foundries producing human castings; the  Soul is melted in the heat of human sufferings And carefully wrought great souls are brought out.  Dr.S.Padmapriya

Article: The Unparalleled Actor- 'Sivaji' Ganesan

The Unparalleled Actor - ‘Sivaji’ Ganesan   By Dr.S.Padmapriya      Writer and Thinker, Chennai  ‘Chevalier’ ‘Sivaji’ Ganesan was one of a kind. He got the title of ‘Sivaji’ after he essayed the role of Chathrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the great Maratha Indian ruler during a stage performance. For a person, who left his home to become a theatre artist, the cinematic journey was really long and illustrious. He was a man, who overcame many obstacles in his way. He would go on to achieve stupendous success in Tamil cinema. He would go on to influence Tamil politics, too. He was greatly attached to Mr.Kamaraj, the great Tamil politician-leader. Thiru. Kamarajar gave free education, when he was the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu. In terms of political leanings, Sivaji Ganesan was attached to the Congress. He stayed away from joining either the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam or the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in Tamilnadu. Sivaji  Ganesan was born as V. Chinniah Mandrayar Ganeshamurthy

The Winsome Child( A Short Story with no dialogues)

The Winsome Child   In a city, which roars with activity, day in and day out, one can hardly expect the citizens to remain in close touch with each other. This assumption is a bygone conclusion for apartment dwellers. Urban layouts are cluttered and over-crowded to the extreme and the minds of the inhabitants are often filled with conflicting thoughts, feelings and maladies that make conversations of a personal nature, quite non-existent. Maybe, urban dwellers don’t trust each other as much as their rural counterparts. Of course, it has never been human nature to realise that one must be a good neighbour to deserve a good one.   In a few clustered apartments that we are discussing about – all kinds of people lived: the lecherous and the dignified, the young and the old, the rich, the middle class and even the poor, who had once upon been rich enough to buy an apartment but now not rich enough to maintain one, the tall and the short, the active, the passive, heroes and villains, blesse

The Sun(Poem)

The Sun Arise, ‘O’ great painter of the heavenly aura, With the fine strokes of your exquisitely coloured arms, With a charmed beauty, Looking like a brother to the princely moon, And a true posture in the heaven. Your tops are like silk, Your bottoms are like hazy mists, Thy very name creates joy in the minds of human lots, You shudder like one last sigh of life, You sparkle like a crystal in the smile of thy Very own face. Tips to be a better writer

One must keep observing the happenings of the world and keep reading. These two habits help us write better.

Poem:The General

The General  The brave General, Marched on and on! Seeing the formidable enemy, His army became forlorn. Turning their back on the General, They disappeared on that morn. The brave General,  Marched on and on. He turned and to his profound shock, Found that his men were gone!  The brave General  Marched on and on,  Seeing the General with his serene visage,  The enemy weakened with the fear, That they would be mercilessly torn. Expecting to see a great army in a while,  The enemies decided to leave and be gone.  The brave General vanquished the fleeing men with ease, Marched on and on.  Back home to a hero's welcome, He thanked his soldiers in front of all, His men shed tears, Someone in the crowd said, "What brave men we have!"  "Yes," replied the brave General,  "Without them, Would I have been able to march on?"  S.Padmapriya

Poem on Lord Ganapathi

Poem: 'Peace'

Peace True peace is not meditation, It does not lie in intimidation, True peace is finding a solution, Inspite of chaos! The opposite of war is not always peace, War for sagacious righteousness, To uphold truth and justice, Is not vicious! Peace is not abstinence from war, But right indulgence in it when needed, Peace is not keeping mute, But breaking wrong silence! True peace is not always being popular, But doing and speaking what’s right, Peace is not just in smiling, But in wiping others’ tears, True peace is not in outer beauty, But giving shape to the inner duty,  In contemplation and sacrifice! Poem: Brave Souls

Brave Souls Brave souls never quit, Or even threaten to do so! The 'Quit' syndrome is an ailment, Of sympathy seeking wolf weaklings, Sometimes foolishly bolstered by, By ideologically disoriented sheep, Who move in the direction of popular trends, Unable to stand by any principles of their own! Resilience is the hallmark of, Of the strong and the virtuous, Not fearful of the world, Even if it stands together, To bring down Brave Souls! Cowardice is the hallmark of weaklings, Wolves and sheep look foolish together, The Good and Wise fear neither wolves nor sheep. Brave souls never quit or threaten, Fear is the domain of weaklings! His Excellency - a poem

Image
# This poem was written when Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam was the President of the Indian Republic.  *His Excellency* (A tribute to our beloved Missile Man)  The King is the King,  His empire stretches far and wide, Omnipresent in minds and hearts,  Omnipotent encompassing all, He commands hearts,  From atop his Raisina Throne.  He does not brandish weapons, Towards none he bears ill will,  He rules with his intellect,  Combined with childlike gentleness,  He is a man with a mission, A developed and fearless India is his vision.  His vocation is science and technology,  Kindness and integrity is his methodology,  Poet, writer, scholar, scientist,  He is many men in one, 'Vision 2020', 'Wings of Fire',  His ideas prolific pour strength,  Igniting the minds of his countrymen.  How many hurdles,  Must have been crossed, To reach this zenith? Undoubtedly, an infinite!  He overcomes trials every minute,  His calm smiling face burying all of it.

Poem: Fear

Image
Fear! What is there to fear, When the mind is clear, When one has not harmed, Any living creature ever?! What is there to fear, When to guide us, There are values dear, Preventing the soul from being seared?! What is there to fear, When the world stands at your doorstep, That you may not shed a tear, They know you are a wise seer?! What is there to fear, When every minute your tongue, Dares to sprout the Truths, Without fear?! What is there to fear, When the conscience is clear, Not broken or broiled, Sauteed or basted, Your spirit is in full gear?! What is there to fear, When you protect Truth and Dharma, When both God and nature, Are in your favour?!  Dr.S.Padmapriya 19th February 2020

Ten points to Top in the Tenth Boards

Ten Points to Top in the Tenth Boards        Dr.S.Padmapriya, Ph.D. Education is a long test of endurance, hardwork, patience and commitment. The Central Board of Secondary Education {CBSE} conducts the board exams for the students of class ten every year in the month of March. The Tenth Board exam is the first major exam that a student studying in the Indian educational system faces.  There are certain steps, which, if adopted by a student studying for the tenth boards, can lead to stupendous success.  One: Read all chapters thoroughly. Don’t leave out the portions in the boxes and the fringes. Every line is important because multiple choice questions can be based on any portion from your syllabus.  Two: Prepare very short notes for every chapter. Note down the important points from your chapters. Keep in mind, the sequence of events and the continuity of actions.  Three:  Be cool. Keep yourself stress free. Take a break of 10 minutes every one or two hours during yo

Poem - Reaching God!

Image
Reaching God Many ways to reach God, Like rivers to The Ocean, Ancient scriptures many, To God, the routes vary.  Meditate - concentrate,  Reach God through Raja Yoga, Or pray - chant, Attain The Holy through Bhakti - yoga.  Some say Jnana yoga,  Leads to Bliss,  The path of knowledge,  They say gives the superior edge.  The best is through right action,  'Karma Yoga',  Positive will be every reaction,  Service to man is service to God,  Do your duties well,  God will descend on earth,  Time will surely tell.  S.Padmapriya

Poem: Malabar Giant Squirrel

Image
Malabar Giant Squirrel Oh! Giant squirrel, You sleep so well, Dangling yet not falling, You are like a star frolicking, The brown trunk camouflaging, Your brown body and un- brown thoughts, Against none having any grudge holdings, Dear dark brown giant lilliput darling, Sweetly serene as a new born charming, Ambassador of sweetness and freshness, Young lord of the hills and forests, Little giant sleeping, Eating nuts and fruits in freedom, Fun loving furry fidgeting friend, No deep sorrows or heartbreaks, Nothing to drown the happy spirit, Little giant sleeping squirrel, I know you will see me, In your dreams, A poet writing about dreamy dark squirrels, In joyous abandon in carefree hours.
