[My Identity(என் அடையாளம்)as an Academician and Writer(கல்வியாளர் மற்றும் எழுத்தாளர்)]


   Dr.S.Padmapriya was born in Tamilnadu in India in 1982.  Dr.S.Padmapriya holds a Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree in Economics from the University of Madras. She also passed the University Grants Commission's Junior Research Fellowship and National Eligibility Test exam at age 22. She secured The University of Madras's Second Rank in her graduation subject of Economics in 2002.


She has been an academician, administrator and researcher. She has worked as the Principal-In-Charge of Vedantha Pre-University College at Sharada Nagar, Bangalore and is currently working as part of Teaching Faculty at The School of Excellence in Law in Chennai, India.

 

    She also has a deep and abiding passion for English Literature. She wrote her first poem in English at the age of seven at Dhaka in Bangladesh. Her first poem to be published was 'The Peepal Tree'  in the poetry journal ‘Poet’ in 1997 when she was fifteen. Her first short story, 'The Judgment Day' was first published in 'Contemporary Vibes', Punjab in 2007.



   Dr.S.Padmapriya has written poems, short stories, essays, general articles, critical articles, research articles, book reviews and forewords and they have been published far and wide.  She has four collections of poetry (‘Great Heights’, ‘The Glittering Galaxy’, ‘Galaxy’ and 'New Poems') to her credit. Her Debut Novel, ‘The Fiery Women’ has been published in India in 2020. Her debut collection of English Short Stories, ‘Fragments’ has been published in 2020 on Kindle as e-book. Her second collection of short stories is 'Surreal Stories' published in 2021. 

   

  She has been included in the landmark book, ‘A Critical Survey of Indo- English Poetry’ (2016) and is also one of the 50 women poets writing in English in India, who have been covered in the colossal work, ‘History of Contemporary Indian English Poetry’ (2019). 



   The following are the details regarding her published poetry works –



1. ‘Great Heights’ – This poetry collection was published in 2003. The Foreword to ‘Great Heights’ was given by Padma Bhushan, Dr.Krishna Srinivas. The book has been reviewed by the well known writer from New Zealand, Patricia Prime.  It was also reviewed in ‘The Hindu’ national newspaper. It was also reviewed by Michael Adams of U.S.A.



2.‘The Glittering Galaxy’ – This poetry collection was published in 2005. The Foreword to the book was given by Padma Bhushan, Dr.Krishna Srinivas. The book was reviewed by Ms.Humera Ahmed in ‘The Hitavada’ newspaper and by Dr.Srinivasa Rangaswami in the ‘Higginbothams’ newsletter.



3.‘Galaxy’ – This poetry collection was published in 2011. The Foreword was given by Prof.S.Jagapathy. The book was reviewed by Shri. Manas Bakshi in ‘Bridge-in-Making’. The book was also reviewed by the internationally renowned reviewer, Bernard M. Jackson of U.K.



     S.Padmapriya’s poems have been published in journals and newspapers, all over the world for the past twenty five years. Her poems have been published in a large number of national and international journals and newspapers such as ‘The State Times’(J&K, India), ‘The Daily Excelsior’(J&K, India), ‘The Teenager’(Mumbai, India), ‘Bridge-in-Making’( West Bengal, India), ‘Moonlight of  Corea’( South Korea), ‘Phoenix New Life Poetry’( United Kingdom), ‘Young Poet’(Chennai, India), ‘Poet’(Chennai, India), ‘Poetry World’(Chennai, India), ‘Poetcrit’(Himachal Pradesh, India), Slug Fest (U.S.A.), ‘Writers Editors Critics’ journal( Kerala, India) , the ‘Teesta Online International Journal of Poetry’, the ‘International Journal on Multicultural Literature’(Kerala), Das Literarisch, ‘Efflorescence’(Chennai) etc. Her poems have also been widely anthologised in many world poetry anthologies right from 1999 till now. Her poems have appeared in ‘We, the World Poets’ at Bhubaneswar in India in 2001. Her poems have also appeared in the book, ‘English Poetry in India’, published in Kolkata, India in 2015.  


   She is also an associate editor of the poetry anthology, ‘Muse of Now Paradigm- An Entry into Poepro’, published in India in 2020. She is also the founder of ‘IndLit Camerata’, a Whatsapp group of Indian litterateurs. 


     In addition, she has been a part of multiple collaborative poetry books like ‘Confluence Volume 2’, ‘Confluence Volume 3’, ‘Confluence Volume 4’ and ‘Madras Hues, Myriad Views’.  


  Her literary works have appeared in Confluence-of-soul.com, Literary Vibes website and ScienceShore.com - a science E-magazine. They have also appeared in 'International Writers' Journal'.


 Her poems are a part of the Shakti International Anthology of Poems in 2022 and the Sanatan Bharat Anthology of Patriotic Poems of India in 2022. Her short story is a part of 'Tales of our Times' published in Punjab in 2022. 


  Her short stories and articles have appeared in journals like ‘Contemporary Vibes’ (Punjab, India), Bridge-in-Making (West Bengal, India), ‘Writers Editors Critics’ (Kerala, India) and ‘Elegance’ (Mumbai, India). 

     

 She was the chief guest of 'Poets League', a poetry initiative organised by the post-graduate department of English of Kristu Jayanthi College, Bangalore in 2020.


    

  She has also received two letters of appreciation for her poetry from His Excellency, President of India, Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.


 

Her poems have been published in 'Mosaic of Poetic Musings', an anthology of English Poems by Contemporary Women Poets of India! She has also been included in ‘Vibrant Voices’, an Anthology of 21st Century Indian Women Poets in English’ by Sahitya Akademi, The Indian Academy of Letters. Her poems have been included in 'Contemporary Indian English Love Poetry' Anthology.(2023). Her poems have also been included in 'Selected Lyrics', an Anthology of Poems by GIEWEC Poets. Her poems have also been included in DIVERSE VOICES, a poetry anthology by 22 eminent Indian English Poets in 2023.


Thus, her literary works have been published all over India and abroad! Her poetry has been published in India, U.K., U.S.A. and South Korea.
