Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan The Model World Citizen and Philosopher – Statesman By Dr.S. Padmapriya, Ph.D. Author, Educator and Thinker, Chennai Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born on the 5th of September of 1888 at Tiruttani, which was part of erstwhile Madras Presidency and current Tamilnadu State in a Telugu speaking Family. His father was Sarvepalli Veeraswami and mother was Sitamma. He belonged to the Hindu religion and was a Brahmin by birth but espoused a tolerant approach to all religions while being all along a staunch torch bearer of Hinduism.  பசும்பொன் முத்துராமலிங்க தேவர் ஐய்யா  ஆசிரியரும் சிந்தனையாளருமான டாக்டர் எஸ். பத்மப்ரியா, சென்னை திரு. உக்கிரபாண்டி முத்துராமலிங்கத் தேவர் 1908 ஆம் ஆண்டு அக்டோபர் 30 ஆம் தேதி இந்தியாவில் ஆங்கிலேயர் ஆட்சியின் கீழ் இருந்த சென்னை மாகாணத்தின் ஒரு பகுதியாக இருந்த ராம்நாடு மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள பசும்பொன் என்ற இடத்தில் பிறந்தார். முத்துராமலிங்கத் தேவரின் தந்தை மனைவி இறந்த பிறகு மறுமணம் செய்து கொண்டார். முத்துராமலிங்கத் தேவரின் தந்தையின் இரண்டாவது மனைவி இறந்த சிறிது நேரத்திலேயே இரண்டு புதிய மனைவிகளை எடுத்துக்கொண்டதற்காக அவரது தாய்வழிப் பாட்டி பார்வதியம்மாள் அவரது தந்தை மீது கோபமும் அதிருப்தியும் கொண்டிருந்தார். பார்வதியம்மாள் உக்கிரபாண்டியை பல ஆண்டுகளாக கவனித்து வந்தார். பாட்டி - பேரன் இருவரும் கல்லுப்பட்டியில் வசித்து வந்தனர்.  முத்துராமலிங்கத் தேவரின் பள்ளிப் படிப்பை ஒழுங்குபடுத்தும் பொறுப்பை அவரது தந்தையின் நெருங்கிய குடும்ப நண்பரான குழந்தைசாமி பிள்ளை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டார். ஆரம்பத்தில், அவருக்கு ஒரு தனியார் கல்வி வழங்கப்பட்டது, ஜூன் 1917 இல் அவர் அமெரிக்க மிஷனரிகளால் நடத்தப்படும் ஒரு தொடக்கப் பள்ளி

Navarathri(A Poem)

   *Navarathri* Nine nights, Of splendour, Embedded in the psyche and reality, Of the India Wonder! Three Goddesses are propitiated, Durga, Saraswathi and Lakshmi, To fulfil our needs, We pray to the trinity. On Ayudha puja*, Tools and equipments, All are given rest,  For the work they do, On other days of the year, When they put in their best. On Saraswathi puja,* The Goddess of learning is eulogised, The Epitome of knowledge is our pride, Books are granted freedom for a day, To all people especially children, It feels like a wonderful holiday. Durga Pujo* is done in a manner, Best possible by our Bengali brethren, The prowess of Kali ma is uncountable, The human power is infinitesimal! Vijayadashami* is a memorable day, For when all culminates then people say, ‘Start to do the new, They will bear wings, All your dreams will come true, There is much work to do'. Dr.S.Padmapriya
