All about Editing in Literature

  Editing in literature is  the process of reviewing, revising, and correcting a manuscript to improve its readability and clarity .  There are several types of editing, including:   Developmental editing The editor focuses on the overall structure and style of the manuscript, and how the narrative is put together.   Line editing The editor focuses on the style of the manuscript, looking at the flow of writing, tense, description, and other stylistic matters.  The editor may rephrase or remove sentences to enhance the story.   Copy editing The editor focuses on the technical correctness of the manuscript, checking for grammar, syntax, spelling, and formatting.  The editor may also look for word repetition or character inconsistencies.   Proofreading The editor looks at the manuscript from the reader's perspective, checking for typos, formatting errors, and minor inconsistencies.   Source: Internet

2024 Nobel Prize in Literature

  The 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to the South Korean author  Han Kang  (born 1970) "for her intense poetic prose that confronts historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life". It was announced by the Swedish Academy in Stockholm, Sweden, on 10 October 2024 and was awarded on 10 December 2024. Source: Internet

  Chakravarti Rajagopalachari C.Rajaji was an accomplished writer both in his mother tongue Tamil, and English. In 1922, he published a book  Siraiyil Tavam  (Meditation in jail) which was a day-to-day diary about his first imprisonment from 21 December 1921 to 20 March 1922. In 1958, he was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award for Tamil for his retelling of the Ramayana –  Chakravarti Thirumagan . In 1916, Rajaji started the Tamil Scientific Terms Society.This society coined new words in Tamil for terms connected to botany, chemistry, physics, astronomy and mathematics. At about the same time, he called for Tamil to be introduced as the medium of instruction in schools. Rajaji was the founder of the Salem Literary Society and regularly participated in its meetings in which he suggested introducing scholarships for Dalit students.He also edited Mahatma Gandhi's newspaper  Young India. Bharathiyar was born as C.Subramaniyan Iyer in Ettayappuram in the erstwhile Thirunelveli district in Madras Presidency. Prosody Byte - 1 #Blank Verse: Blank verse is poetry written in regular, metrical but unrhymed lines, almost always composed of iambic pentameter. It has a conventional meter that is used for verse drama and long narrative poems. It is often used in descriptive and reflective poems and dramatic monologues.
