  • Developmental editing
    The editor focuses on the overall structure and style of the manuscript, and how the narrative is put together. 
  • Line editing
    The editor focuses on the style of the manuscript, looking at the flow of writing, tense, description, and other stylistic matters. The editor may rephrase or remove sentences to enhance the story. 
  • Copy editing
    The editor focuses on the technical correctness of the manuscript, checking for grammar, syntax, spelling, and formatting. The editor may also look for word repetition or character inconsistencies. 
  • Proofreading
    The editor looks at the manuscript from the reader's perspective, checking for typos, formatting errors, and minor inconsistencies.
